There has been ongoing commercial development along Route 13 south of Smyrna. In fact, Mike's Famous Harley Davidson opened up shop just outside of the town a few years ago. If you like to golf, then you will enjoy Garrison Lake Golf Course which is just a little south of Smyrna and just off Route 13. While there are quite a few courses in the Dover area, many people will make the drive from Dover just to golf at Garrison's Lake. The real estate situation in this area is healthy due to newer single family homes in developments as well as non-development houses. Perhaps one reason why so many people have taken advantage of the newer condo and townhome developments in the Smyrna area is due to proximity to Route 1. This bypass was completed years ago and allows for unrestricted driving from Dover all the way to Wilmington to I-95. Just north of Smyrna and immediately off of Route 13 are two developments that are not very old at all. Each development has single family homes that are more toward the luxurious category. They are practically next to each other, but the southern-most development has larger houses with greater acreage. Smyrna has actually become less isolated even though the Route 1 bypass drastically reduced the traffic through the town during the summer months. But one thing that is interesting is you will still see a fair amount of through-traffic. Perhaps the reason for that is it is simply a nice drive along Route 13, and there are restaurants and other service oriented businesses for your convenience. The older Smyrna real estate locations are not far from Route 13 and could be an ideal location depending on your needs.
