Dover, Delaware Real Estate

If you like historical buildings and architecture, then there is much in this city that will capture your attention. You will find historical landmarks as well as an entire section in downtown Dover that reminds you of earlier times in America's history. The Green, as it is called, is a historic square through which Main Street passes. This area is lined with very old buildings that have been restored. Some of the structures are residential while others serve as offices for various professionals. One side of the Green consists mainly of state/city government buildings such as Delaware's Supreme Court. If you are familiar with the history of the tri-state area, then perhaps you have heard of William Penn of Pennsylvania during colonial times. He founded Dover in 1683 when Kent County had been in existence for just a short time. However, up until 1777, the state capital was New Castle which is just south of Wilmington. Then in that year, the capital was formally moved to Dover because it was located in the middle of the state. There are many activities and opportunities for families here in Dover. The two main schools are Dover High School and Caesar Rodney High School; however, there are others including Holy Cross School which does not include high school grades. You will find that even though Dover has grown quite a bit in the past few decades, it still retains a distinct air of old-time Americana characteristic of small towns. At night the streets are quiet and you will not see very many people out even though there are no serious crime problems in the city. Jim can tell you much more about the opportunities available for Dover real estate and family living in this quaint town. He is just a phone call away, and the number on this site is for his cell phone.
