New Castle Real Estate
New Castle real estate is prized and treasured for a variety of reasons. This historic town was settled in 1651 by the Dutch West India Company in an agreement with the native peoples living in the area. The town area, known as The Green, was originally designed by the Dutch, and this area within the town still exists as it did then. You will find historic single family homes as well as more modern homes in New Castle. There are also condo and town home dwellings on the outskirts of the old part of town. Many people from the Wilmington area frequent the restaurants within the older part of the city for a nice quiet evening of excellent dining. The town seems to be an out-of-the-way place, and that is perhaps one reason why New Castle real estate is chosen by people of all walks of life. You can find a good number of people who are retired and love the quiet environment. Plus there is a healthy population of professionals who have taken residence in the older part of the town in The Green area. There really is a certain upscale feel to The Green and smaller streets extending from it. New Castle Real Estate
You will see vestiges of the somewhat turbulent early history of this area as the Dutch and Swedish settlers scuffled for dominion in this exact area in the latter half of the 17th century. The end result was a type of coexistence between the two groups producing cultural, social and religious influences that continued for a long time. There is a distinctive layout of the streets in the older section called The Green. You will notice the streets are arranged very neatly in a grid pattern. That was done by the Dutch as well as creating a common town area which is now called, The Green. There are very quaint and attractive single family dwellings and even some buildings converted to what could be called a townhouse. You will not find a great deal of commerce within the New Castle town proper as it is primarily residential real estate. Although of course there are some very nice and quiet restaurants that are popular with many locals. But even in the early days, there was not much commercial activity, and the local economy had the effect of minimizing renovations to the homes in the town. The net result was very many houses and private residences have the exact design and look as they did during colonial times. Naturally, people have kept up with them, and all those houses and various forms of real estate look very nice and well-kept. Along with the historic settings that New Castle offers, there are more modern residential developments immediately outside the town and easily accessible to Route 273.
