Kent County was named after the English county and is nestled between Delaware's other two counties, New Castle to the north and Sussex to the south. The 2010 census lists the population of Kent County as 162,310 with the state capital of Dover located in the county. Dover is rich with colonial era history and architecture. There is a section in downtown Dover called The Green, and it essentially is a square lined with buildings dating back to colonial times. There was a church on State Street, in Dover, that was built in the late 1600's. Unfortunately, that historic church had to be demolished as it was considered too unstable.
